Seminar "Academic Advising: Supporting Students"
Throughout their academic journey, in addition to acquiring specialized knowledge, students always need timely guidance and close support to overcome challenges and build a clear and sustainable personal development path. In this process, academic advisors play a particularly important role, acting as a bridge between the university and students, contributing to supporting learners in their studies, training, and future career orientation.
To enhance the effectiveness of academic advising and create a forum for exchange and sharing between students and lecturers, on January 29, 2026, Ton Duc Thang University organized a seminar on the topic "Academic Advising: Accompanying Students," attracting the participation of over 350 students.
The seminar took place in an open, friendly, and highly interactive atmosphere. It was an opportunity for students to directly listen to professors share their insights on the role of academic advising in today's university environment, and to better understand the tasks, responsibilities, and forms of support that academic advisors can provide to students.
Through practical stories and experiences from teaching and mentoring students, the instructors helped students gain a deeper understanding of the importance of proactively connecting with academic advisors. In addition, the discussions focused on common student issues such as effective study methods, time management, balancing academics and personal life, and career guidance in a constantly changing society.
The Q&A session received positive attention from students, with many practical questions reflecting their concerns during their studies and training. The instructors provided dedicated answers and specific advice, helping students gain a clearer perspective and better direction for their academic journey.
The seminar not only helped clarify the role of academic advisors but also strengthened the bond between faculty and students, creating a friendly, open, and mutually supportive learning environment. Through this, students were encouraged to be proactive and engaged in their studies, while also confidently exchanging ideas and seeking support when needed.
With its practical value, the program left a positive impression on participating students. This is an important foundation that helps learners become more confident, proactive, and secure in their university journey, aiming for holistic development in knowledge, skills, and character.
